First Discoveries Academy is home to four very sweet, very gentle Nigerian Dwarf Goats!  The goats have a special pen and barn on the back of our property where they live, and the children visit with them every day to help to care of them and play with them.  

 

Working with animals is so beneficial for children!  They learn to have self-control, be gentle, and consider the needs of others.  They also learn about the life cycle of animals as they watch animals grow and change over time and they compare baby animals with adult animals.  We read stories about animals, both fiction and nonfiction, and develop new vocabulary along the way.  Learning is so much fun with our new goats!
